The Miner’s family original business was a small tavern started in 1943 by Tony and Ida Miner that offered local residents ice-cold beer. When Tony noticed that many customers left early in the evening so they could buy their bread and milk before their nearby grocery store closed for the day, they added a milk cooler and bread among to serve patrons better. From there, the “grocery” footprint in the location expanded as the customer base grew. This simple, yet insightful decision based on Tony and Ida’s eagerness to take care of their customers’ needs laid the foundation for what is now a large family of grocery stores serving dozens of communities under the names of Miner’s County Market, Woodland Marketplace Foods, Super One Foods, and Super One Liquor.
Miner’s Inc. purchased the International Falls Supervalu store in 2012. Shortly after the acquisition, the store was completely remodeled and enhanced from end to end while re-branded Miner’s County Market. In addition, in 2012 Miner’s Inc. also built a full-service liquor store adjacent to the grocery store. The name that location is County Market Liquor where they invite you to “come for the service, leave with the savings!” Lastly, the facility has its own fuel center as well located right outside the grocery and liquor stores. Today this destinations offers one of the finest “one stop” grocery shopping experiences in northern Minnesota.
